A superb bronze by the Austrian sculptor Ferdinand Lugerth (1885-1915) entitled 'Testing the Foil' upon a green marble base.
Note: The unusually slung belt which became a modesty shield, sometimes required by the commissioning body, was first created by A Brutt with his fountain statue Roland, which he exhibited at the Grossen Berliner Kunstausstellung of 1909. Signature and Arthur Rubenstein foundry monogram to base.
Height: 11.5" (29.25cm). Fabulous patina with some slight rubbing.
